Frequently Asked Questions

Answer

To have us batch process your phone list, just use the Submit Batch! button above. You'll be taken to our wizard to upload your file and make your payment. We'll automatically start processing.

Answer

We require your file to be CSV. If you data is in an Excel spreadsheet, simply save it as a CSV file and you're good!

Answer

Your numbers can be submitted with or without leading ones. For example, 13105551234 or 3105551234. The leading "1's" do not need to be consistent throughout your file. You may have them mixed within your file as well.

Answer

Our data includes all phone numbers in North America including the United States, Canada and all Caribbean nations and territories who are members of the North American Numbering Plan. (Please note due to Canadian privacy law restrictions, all information about Canadian numbers is based on the phone company and line type at time of release of the number and it is not updated to include subsequent portability changes.)

Answer

Yes, but when we return it to you, all punctuation will be removed.

Answer

Sorry, you cannot. We accept one column of data only, which is your phone numbers. We will return your file in the exact same order as received, including leaving empty rows intact so you can copy/paste our results back to your master file. The reason we do not allow other columns of data is because they could potentially trigger unnecessary privacy law compliance obligations for both us and our customers.

Answer

It does not. Unfortunately, there is no standardized requirement on the phone companies to report their disconnected numbers. So, some may handle disconnects one way, others a different way. The result is there is no comprehensive way to determine if any given number is disconnected or not. Some services claim to offer a "disconnected" number search, but they are not definitive and are based on "likelihood". In other words, they are making educated guesses.

Answer

Fake or "invalid" phone numbers are numbers that have never been placed into service by the phone companies and cannot be called or texted. Examples would be 999-999-9999 and 123-456-7890 but there are tens of thousands of others. The most common reasons seen are for area codes that do not exist; area code and prefix combinations that do not exist; and finally, the area code and prefix combination is valid but the following 4 digits have not been placed into service by the phone companies.

Answer

Possibly. Attempted text messages to landlines or VOIP numbers will make your bounce rate go up and this could contribute to platform penalties up to and including being de-platformed. By using our Line Type Basic search, you can make sure texts don't go out to non-cell numbers.

Answer

Yes, there's links to sample output files in our pricing grid above.

Answer

A ported phone number is a phone number that has been redirected from its original phone company or line type. It allows people to keep their number known to family and friends when they need to change phone service. For example, a landline that was ported to a cell phone. Businesses who communicate to their customers really need to know the CURRENT line type, as opposed to the original line type so they don't accidentally call a cell phone that they thought was a landline. Our Line Type Basic search includes a check of ported number data to identify phone numbers that have been ported. This is the most accurate way to identify the current true line type for any given phone number.

Answer

Yes, when you submit a Batch file for processing, we automatically apply a volume discounts at 250K (5% discount) and at 1M records (10% discount).

Answer

Yes we do! Please click the API link at the top of this page!

Answer

It does not matter, but all of our results include a header row that identifies the datapoints in each column. Some customers want the rows in their source file to sync up perfectly with the result file rows, so if this is you, you SHOULD have a header row in your source file.

Answer

Yes. If your file includes blank rows, they will be processed and we will continue processing to the end of your file. Please note blank rows are charged as lookups.

Answer

Our Line Type Basic lookup works with Canadian phone numbers but due to Canadian privacy law does not include ported phone information and is based on the original Line Type, location and phone company at the time the number went into service.

Answer

99% of our customers use our API to process individual queries on individual phone numbers. However, in rare occasions, we have been asked if it is possible to use the API to upload a file of phone numbers as opposed to a single query. This is currently not an option however it is under review. If you have questions about this, please use our contact form to reach out.
