For application workflows

Phone Validator API

Know what kind of number you’re dealing with before you text it, call it or let it sign up. One REST call returns the line type, phone company, number origin and a fake-number flag.

What you can check

Phone data for the decisions in your workflow

Line type

Identify cell, landline, VOIP and toll-free numbers with Line Type.

Phone company and location

Get phone company details and a location based on the number's area code and prefix.

Fake number check

Flag examples such as 555-555-5555 and 123-456-7890, along with area code/prefix combinations that do not exist.

Look up numbers in the U.S., Canada and other countries. The comparison below shows which data each option includes.

Check numbers where your team collects them

Call the API when a phone number enters a form, application or contact workflow. Store the returned line type, carrier and fake number indicators alongside the record so your team can review the data.

A lookup describes the number, not its owner or whether a message will be delivered. Learn how validation differs from possession verification.

1 When available, includes current ported-number and carrier data from our telecommunications data provider, to identify numbers whose line type has changed (such as landline to cell) and their current carrier. This data can lag behind recent changes. Sorry, this is not available for Canadian phone numbers.
2 Based on file size under 25,000 records.
PORTED NUMBERS: Ported numbers are phone numbers that have been switched between phone companies (allowing a person to keep his/her phone number) or numbers that have been switched from one line type (like landline) to another (like cell).
TCPA and Do Not Call: a line type result is not consent to call or text, and we don't provide Do Not Call scrubbing or legal advice. Ask your attorney whether your calls and messages comply with the TCPA, Do Not Call rules and state telemarketing laws.
